This release of tags comprises of a very limited supply.
Each tag comes from the leading edge of an Aim-9 Sidewinder Canard fin.
Constructed from an extremely tough ferrous alloy with some even surpassing 90 grams in weight.
Surfaces and edges have been polished. Laser etching of Aim-9 missile with accompanying text.
Background
The AIM-9 Sidewinder missile rolleron is a highly manoeuvrable, short-range air-to-air missile with a range of up to 25 miles and maximum speed in excess of Mach 2.5+. It features a Lock-On After Launch (LOAL) capability, allowing it to be launched without prior target acquisition. The missile's rocket motor provides high speed and acceleration, and its infrared guidance system allows it to home in on targets. The AIM-9 Sidewinder is the most widely used air-to-air missile in the world, and is used by both the US and allied military forces. It is a highly effective weapon, proven in combat, and has been credited with downing numerous enemy aircraft.
Each tag comes complete on a backing card and protected in a plastic sleeve.
